Football Tournament 2014

Football Tournament
2014

In 2014, FUSA-Haiti organized their first football tournament. This was a sport event in collaboration with the Sportschool in Hasselt (Belgium). We could use their sport facility, which is located in the middle of the city. This ideal location, combined with a nice accommodation, were ideal for a football tournament. On top of that, the Sportschool of Hasselt has a great reputation. They have a heart for their community, the children, sport and education. All of these elements, created a warm atmosphere with a multicultural public. Our participants and spectators were diverse. They consisted of different nationalities, race, age groups and gender. These ingredients proved to be the ideal elements for a successful, multicultural and sport related event.

The sport hall we organized our event in, was very roomy. All kind of sports could be held in it, like indoor football, volleyball and basketball. We didn’t only place our focus on the tournament itself, but also on the entertainment around it. FUSA’s enthusiast personnel took care of good music, food and refreshing drinks. The entire events focal point, was aimed at sport, togetherness, respect and fair play. Nevertheless, we could notice that, a huge part of the sport participants, were very dedicated to win the tournament. This resulted in intense and exciting games on a high performance level, with a supportive encouraging crowd. Thanks to a group of skilled and friendly helpers, FUSA-Haiti was able to organize a successful event. All people were welcomed with open arms no matter gender, race, religion, political belief or nationality.

After a tense and exciting final, all teams were rewarded with trophies and medals. Because we couldn’t have organized this joyful event without our hard working volunteers, we rewarded them with free match tickets for a professional football game. Thanks to 2 first division clubs in Limburg, KRC Genk (Koninklijke Racing Club Genk) and STVV (Koninklijke Sint-Truidense Voetbalverening), we were able to offer not only match tickets, but also other value-in-kind goods. Of course, the good cooperation with the Sportschool was a valuable support and an undeniable benefit to arrange this successful event.
